Entrée

On Valentine's evening the mister treated me to a lovely dinner at Entrée. I had actually chosen the venue and while I am usually not a fan of going out to eat on V day (overcrowded, set meals, total rip off) entrée was running a promotion so I decided to go for it. For £35 each we got 3 courses and for an additional £5 I got a glass of prosecco. (I actually had 2 glasses, but I bet you had already guessed that.)

I forgot my camera and my phone that day so I wasn't able to snap any pics and I'm actually really glad. The mister and I were completely focused on each other, the way it should be.

The food was good, not excellent, but what was lacking in food was made up by the atmosphere. I had the foie gras to start followed by the sea bass. I would say the highlight of the sea bass was actually the mussels it was served with. The sea bass was rather bland and the shell fish added a little something to the dish. The mister had the crab tortellini followed by the steak for a main. He thought the steak could have been a bit warmer but overall was pleased.

The atmosphere at entrée is what I enjoyed the most. Candles lit everywhere, rose petals on the table and a live piano downstairs playing all the great love songs, including our wedding song.

Stumbling around and Pinterested

This evening I finally signed up for Pinterest. Pinterest is, "a social catalog service. Think of it as a virtual pinboard — a place where you can post collections of things you love, and "follow" collections created by people with great taste." This reminds me so much of Etsy's Treasury section but obviously Pinterest is limited to whats available on the web (meaning, no limits) while Etsy is limited to their seller's stocks. Of course, Etsy has a pinterest. Just as a warning, the site is incredibly slow. Incredibly.

Since the mister and I will likely be making the move into a tiny flat, this immediately caught my eye. There aren't enough teeny tiny beautifully designed and decorated flats photographed to serve as inspiration for us 501 square foot dwellers.

I think I might be developing a bit of a wood object obsession (as opposed to a wood obsession which sounds slightly more risqué). Iphone case is on sale here.



I don't love the color but everyone needs one of these.

I could definitely DIY this for a house warming present.

 

 

 

If I owned more jewelry (and had space to hang something like this) I would definitely steal this idea.

 

I need a low maintenance plant for my desk at work.

Tea at the Ritz

Today I was very lucky to be invited along to tea at the Ritz. I have always wanted to go but have just never made it. Tea at the Ritz is the ultimate stop for tea and cake and then some. The building and decor is absolutely beautiful and I loved spending the afternoon (not working!) doing something I consider to be extremely British and definitely foreign to me.  

Everything was on point from the light and airy scones to the cute single pink rose that adorned the lapel of the man who sat us.

Still wedding obsessed

Even though my wedding has been over and done with for several months, I still find myself obsessing about weddings. I peak at Style Me Pretty at least once a week and find myself in constant conversation with soon-to-wed friends about weddings. I love every minute of it.

I heard a rumor long ago that Anthropologie was launching a wedding line but now I've stumbled across their website and a few photos that promise the same vintage style and unique pieces as Anthro but styled for a special occasion.

BHLDN launches on February 14th; so fitting! (I think only in the US)

Watch with real purpose

Speaking of watches, I just ran across this braille watch for the blind that is not only sleek and gorgeous (I would definitely buy one!) but offers great functionality for those that can't see. The watch is still in development and is currently trying to crowdsource funds via Kickstart (crowdsource meets venture capital). I think I might add my $5 to the pot and see if I can help (in a very small way) to get this off the ground.




The project has a goal of raising $150,000 and if that goal isn't reached by the closing date of fund raising your money is returned to you, not a bad gamble.

Wood Watch

Last week my beloved Nooka watch went bonkers and wouldn't stop beeping. It literally drove me crazy and after an hour of incessant beeping I was online looking at new fun watches. I love my Nooka because it's so different so I wanted a new watch that other people weren't likely to have. While I love the over sized mans watch trend, everyone is wearing it. Here's a slightly different take on it that I love.
