Strolling through Wimbledon

Wimbledon is like a second home to me. In some respects I love it, the tennis club, the beautiful common, the cute shops in the village and in some respects I much prefer quieter and peaceful Barnes, which has a lot more character too.

But nonetheless I find myself in Wimbledon at least once a month. On a recent trip I stopped at the lovely Brew for a latte and then proceeded to do a little window shopping and had a more serious look around Two Sisters, a fab home store.

Love that lamp and wondering where we could put it in our flat

Monday

Petersham Nurseries

Another beautiful day in London spent with the mister's parents at Petersham Nurseries. I've been wanting to try Petersham Nurseries for some time, especially since we're so close in Barnes, and I'm so glad we finally made it there! It's an absolutely beautiful setting and we had the perfect temperature for outdoor dining.

Friday

Abstract maps

I love maps (and any sort of time piece) and I can't wait to finally start hanging some stuff up around the flat after we get the walls painted (after we finally get the floors redone). Here are a few maps I've found recently, most of which I wish I owned.

Wednesday

Good eats

I love a good food stall but as I've mentioned before, all the good ones are in East London. Thanks goodness then for the Southbank for all it's wonderful cultural quirkiness and attracting some great stalls to the neighborhood. The mister and I took a turn through the food stalls the other evening, spotting a few we knew (horn, ok please) and lots of ones we've never tried. I feel a date night coming on...

Monday

Saturday market

The market was heaving last Saturday morning when we went to do some produce (and sweets!) shopping and pick up lunch supplies. While it's small, it pretty much has everything you need - fresh fruit and veg, cakes and cookies, espresso bar,  sushi, paella, fresh meat (we got some delicious venison) and fish , fresh bread, homemade pastas, an olive bar - basically everything I love all in one place.

Sunday

Kew Gardens

The mister's folks are in town for a few weeks and have been staying with us over the last 2 weekends. Having them here has given me a great excuse to plan lots of outings in South West London. Last weekend (which was stunning, by the way) we went to Kew Gardens for the day.

We started the afternoon with a delicious lunch (and limoncello!) at Q Verde and then walked over to Kew for an afternoon stroll around the garden. If you've never been, I'd highly recommend it. The area around the entrance can get a little hectic and crazy but keep walking, it dies down and is much more calm.
