Olympic wrap up

Yesterday was the closing ceremony of the Paralympic games and therefore the end of the London Olympics. It's been so amazing to live in a city that hosted the Olympics and I am thoroughly impressed with how well London transport (and Londoners) have handled it all.

I found the games to be so inspiring (see this if your feeling uninspired) and hope the feeling of connectedness and happiness the games brought to our city lingers long after.

Thank you London 2012 - it's been an amazing experience.

Fashion's Night Out 2012

Last Thursday I was able to sneak away from work early with one of the gals at work and head out to Bond Street for an amazing night at Fashion's Night Out. I had been last year and this year's event was just as good. So many amazing/crazy outfits, delicious food (seemed to be a lot more food and booze this year than last) and of course, so many things to covet.

Our journey took us through countless stores and countless glasses of champagne (bizarrely none of them documented on film), only one goodie bag (thank you Aspinal!), amazing canapés at L.K. Bennett, lots of laughs and chicken at the Tory Burch food truck and a lovely caricature to end the evening.

Here's a few snaps from our super girly night out.

Indian Summer

Today was a glorious day in London. I only wish I hadn't been stuck inside at my desk for most of it. Indian Summer's (fairly common in California) conjure up thoughts of evenings spent on the beach, summer flowers and fresh fruit, sun-saturated photos and a carefree attitude. Here's to more Indian summer days.

Beautiful breakfasts

Brunch is my favorite meal of the day. I wish I could have it more often than the occasional Sunday. On our recent trip to Cape Cod we stayed in an absolutely adorable Bed and Breakfast and the only thing that could have made our stay even better was if they had served breakfast past 9am (noon would have been ideal for me). Fortunately, they served the most ridiculously scrumptious breakfast I have ever had. Below are a few snaps of our absolutely divine food.

Baked nectarine with raspberry sauce

pancakes with dried pineapple (definitely trying that soon!)

Cantaloup in watermelon juice

Vegetable frittata

Emirates Air Line

During the Olympics we had tickets to the boxing in the Excel center. Heeding the warnings about transport, we left 4 hours before the boxing started. Of course we had an absolutely flawless journey and pulled into the Docklands about 3 hours early!

Not wanting to just hang out in the Excel center we decided to hop on Emirates Air Line, London's new gondola transportation between Greenwich and the Docklands.

Roundtrip fares on your Oyster card (yes, you can use Oyster!) cost £6.40, which isn't that expensive, however the views aren't that spectacular. However, as the area gets built up, I'm sure this will change.
