Saturday market

The market was heaving last Saturday morning when we went to do some produce (and sweets!) shopping and pick up lunch supplies. While it's small, it pretty much has everything you need - fresh fruit and veg, cakes and cookies, espresso bar,  sushi, paella, fresh meat (we got some delicious venison) and fish , fresh bread, homemade pastas, an olive bar - basically everything I love all in one place. 

Kew Gardens

The mister's folks are in town for a few weeks and have been staying with us over the last 2 weekends. Having them here has given me a great excuse to plan lots of outings in South West London. Last weekend (which was stunning, by the way) we went to Kew Gardens for the day. 

We started the afternoon with a delicious lunch (and limoncello!) at Q Verde and then walked over to Kew for an afternoon stroll around the garden. If you've never been, I'd highly recommend it. The area around the entrance can get a little hectic and crazy but keep walking, it dies down and is much more calm.

pub pride

I love how important and integral the pub is to British culture. Even the real gritty pubs have a story, have history and importance in the neighbourhood (well, most anyway). The Churchill Arms is such a well photographed pub and all these years I thought it was in Chiswick, until I ran across it while on a walk in Notting Hill. I love the GB pride, the flowers, the beer! Another year at the fair

This year the weather definitely came to the party. Last year's Glastonbury-esk scene was not the greatest introduction to the Barnes Fair but this year I found myself hoping for intermittent cloud cover since it was so hot! 

We had lunch at The Depot stand (again!) and it didn't disappoint. We of course picked up some dessert at another small stand and spent the rest of the afternoon shopping at all the various stalls.

Netil market

This summer has been amazing! I can't remember the last time we've had so many days of sun. Lately they've been interspersed with rain, but usually promptly followed by sunshine. I hate to be inside on such beautiful days and since there's just so much of London to see - we always have something new to explore on days like these.

On a warm Sunday we basically had Netil Market to ourselves. I was absolutely shocked but loving it, as we sat back and drank tropical drinks, listened to 90s music, ate ceviche, followed by BBQ all with some great friends. Such a lovely way to end of the weekend. 

Vienna snaps

The other weekend the mister and I spent 4 glorious days in Vienna. I had heard the city was beautiful but I really fell in love with all the beautiful buildings and lovely parks. They say Paris is the city of love, but for me, it's Vienna.
