The Blow Bar

A few weeks ago the mister took me out to a very belated Birthday dinner. I had purchased a coupon off of Living Social around the holidays for a blow out at The Blow Bar in Angel and thought this was a great occasion to finally use it.

The Blow Bar is located in Camden Passage, a cute and trendy pedestrianized street. Upon arrival I was offered a drink (which came with my coupon) of either water or OJ. They had coffee and tea but had run out of milk. Frankly, I thought the reference to a 'drink' on the coupon meant a cocktail or champagne since they are also a fully licensed bar. I was a bit disappointed but happily sipped on my ice water.

My wash was a bit rushed as they were down one stylist that evening but the rest of my time there was very enjoyable. I went with this style and really loved the results.

Skycouch

On our way to Fiji for our honeymoon we stopped over in LA for one night. This leg of the journey was operated by Air New Zealand. As we were checking in at Heathrow the agent informed us that there was a note on our reservation that we were a honeymoon couple and because of that was going to upgrade us to a Skycouch. Even though I had no idea what that was, I was still ecstatic. How could an upgrade be bad?

expanded to a couch

The Skycouch has a fully extending foot rest style piece that makes a row of 3 seats into a couch. I had this exact idea about 15 years ago but figured it would never come about since it blocked the leg space making it harder to exit in an emergency. The couch was a god send for the long flight.

Readers, this has got to be the most amazing innovation on air planes since on demand TV and movies. And speaking of on demand TV and movies, this plane had a brand new entertainment system which had a billion different shows to watch and you could also order snacks and beverages throughout the flight from your screen.

This is by far the most comfortable transatlantic flight I have ever taken. I don't believe Air New Zealand flies to SFO or SEA (my two main ports of call) but I definitely look forward to flying them again.

Honeymooning in Fiji

As you many have noticed, I have been away from the blog for several weeks. The mister and I have just returned from our amazing honeymoon in Fiji. Travelling half way around the world for our honeymoon didn't seem like the greatest idea while enroute, but after 10 days at the Navutu Stars I can say hands down it was worth the journey. Here are a few pictures from our amazing trip.

The Royal Wedding cake

After Saturday's post about Royal wedding cakes I found Will and Kate's cake on the Official British Monarchy flickr page. I don't know the story behind the McVities Chocolate Cake but it seems a bit out of place. The white wedding cake made by Fiona Cairns was very classy and elegant much like the rest of the wedding.
